Grass River Natural Area is a 501(c)3 non-profit responsible for managing, financing and preserving the 1492 acre Grass River Natural Area for public use and community programming. Located along Antrim County's Chain of Lakes, GRNA's wetlands act as a filter for millions of gallons of water that flow into the Grand Traverse Bay and Lake Michigan. GRNA offers 7 miles of hiking trails through cedar swamps, sedge meadows and upland forests, 1 1/2 miles of which are boardwalks, and also groom three of their trails for cross country skiing in the winter. GRNA also offers a beautiful education center for all to enjoy that offers over 100 programs to the public throughout the year.
The Grass River Natural Area entrance is off Alden Highway (Co. Road 618), 4 miles northeast of Alden, 6 miles south of Bellaire and 8 miles west of Mancelona.
