Outdoor Experiences Your Kids Won't Forget!
May 10, 2018
Whether you live in northwest Michigan year-round or are just up north visiting for a brief week, Grass River Natural Area Summer Day Camp is the perfect excursion for your kids. Tucked away along the Grass River in Antrim County, our camp emphasizes interactive, hands-on, outdoor learning experiences with professional GRNA naturalists, and lots of fun and games in between. This camp isn’t for everyone though. Your kids must love to be outdoors, love to meet new friends, and maybe even love to get a little dirty. And they should also be between the ages of 6 and 11. If your kids are a little too old for this camp, we also offer a Naturalist-in-Training program for 12 to 15 year olds. It’s just as fun and your kid will be able to do things like feed our resident snake, Ruby, and help out at the nature center. This is a great opportunity for your kids to learn more about the natural world and get a behind the scenes look at Grass River.
Grass River Natural Area is a 1,492 acre nature preserve surrounding the Grass River, located in the heart of Antrim County. Along with the beautiful views of Grass River, we also offer seven miles of well-maintained trails including 1.5 miles of boardwalk floating above northern fen and cedar wetlands. With all of these natural features, Grass River Natural Area offers visitors an outdoor, living laboratory to explore and learn. The Grass River Center is open year-round, offering a comfortable learning environment for public programming, school field trips, camps, and more.
